Autumn Breaks
Autumn Breaks on the North Coast
Autumn is the perfect time to take the opportunity to relax and recharge with a short break on Northern Ireland’s North Coast. Why choose the North Coast for your autumn break?
Let’s look at some reasons…
The North Coast has it all – from wild, romantic coastlines to beautiful woodland and rivers; from stunning, award-winning beaches to fabulous food; from quality accommodation to a fantastic range of activities and attractions.
Something for everyone – Nature at its best.
See a different North Coast in autumn – still beautiful, but a wilder beauty than that of summer. Wrap up warm and feel the bracing sea air; watch the waves crashing on the beaches; glimpse Dunluce Castle standing guard above the White Rocks from the Causeway Coastal Route. Or wander through carpets of russet leaves as you explore many of the forest and woodland paths of the North Coast.
You may wish to capture some of the area’s historic landmarks on camera.
Perhaps shopping is your preference – Coleraine is renowned for its unique mix of independent family-run businesses and top high street names and there are numerous cafes and restaurants in which to take a well-earned rest!
Visit the Causeway Speciality Market, held in the centre of Coleraine on the second Saturday of each month. This is the largest regular outdoor market in Northern Ireland, offering a fabulous range of produce and crafts. Choose from superb cheeses, home-baked speciality breads, organic meats, olives, spices, coffees or tempting fruits and vegetables. Take a look at the quality crafts on offer, such as handmade jewellery, woodcrafts, candles and soaps – great gifts, or great treats for yourself!
If you feel you want to get away from everything and completely relax, why not indulge yourself and visit one of the local day spas or health farms and simply enjoy being pampered? You deserve it!
The North Coast Folk Festival is set to showcase local and international folk talent and will include 25 FREE Folk Music performances. Acts will include Cat Malojian, Life O’Reilly, Venue I, Dave Gibb, Alan Murphy, Captain Kennedy, Failte, Reel Folk, Tannasg, Here Comes the Landed Gentry and many more. The Henry Girls will perform at Portstewart’s Flowerfield Arts Centre and will also be hosting several music workshops.
Other Hallowe’en Weekend events include:
Firework Displays in Coleraine and Portballintrae, family entertainment, spooky tours, mask making, fancy dress and storytelling.
